Google maps also calls this intersection Burlow, the place of residence of William Ashdown, the father of Isaac's wife Alice Ashdown, as mention in his will made in 1825 and proved in 1830. William Ashdown left his property at Burlow to his son Daniel Ashdown, who was a witness to Isaac Burt's will.9,10

On the 17 March 1795, Isaac's wife Lucy was buried at Wadhurst with her infant son William. It appears that she died in childbirth.

Description: that she was delivered of a male child at the workhouse or poorhouse in Burwash, 14 January 1807, and that Isaac Burt of Wadhurst, cooper, did get her with child; sworn before William Constable and Robert Hawes, JPs.
There was an Isaac Burt, innkeeper, of Wadhurst, Sussex in 1820. This was from: List of the freeholders, farmers & tradesmen in the parishes of Burwash, Ticehurst & Wadhurst with occupations, transcribed by Brian Harwood and published in Sussex Genealogist and Local Historian Vol. 7, No 1, pp15-16 (June 1985). 100 names. April 2009.4
There is a reference to an Isaac Burt, Constable of the hundred of Loxfield Camden, which includes Wadhurst and Mayfield, in the Estimates and Accounts book

AGREEABLE 'to your instructions, I hereby most humbly transmit to you a return of all parishes, townships or similar divisions of parishes, belonging to the hundred of Loxfield Camden (late Loxfield Pelham), which said hundred is in the county of Sussex, and extends through Mayfield parish and township, Wadhurst parish and township, and part of Lamberhurst parish and township, adjoining to the county of Kent. Isaac Burt, Constable of the said hundred.

Isaac Alfred Burt

     Isaac Alfred Burt was born on 19 February 1818; birth date from baptism record.1 He was the son of Isaac Burt and Alice Ashdown.
Isaac Alfred Burt began military service on 17 January 1837 enlisting in the 90th Regiment of Foot. Age 18 years 11 months, height 5ft 9in, fair complexion, grey eyes, light brown hair, mole under left ear, occupation: cooper, born Hellingly, Sussex.2 He ended military service on 30 June 1837; he purchased his discharge for £20.
Isaac Alfred Burt began military service on 22 October 1838 with the 2nd Battalion Rifle Brigade (Tunbridge Wells) as 1249 Private Isaac Burt. He was paid a bounty of £3 pounds on enlistment. He ended military service on 12 August 1840 at Chatham, Kent, England; he was discharged medically unfit, having the symptoms of consumption (TB). His rank was Private.
On 7 June 1841 Isaac Alfred Burt lived at Horeham Road, Hellingly, Sussex, England, with parents Isaac and Allis (Alice) Burt, and brother William and sister Caroline.3
