Dorothy Davis

Dorothy was a great niece of Henry Smith who died in London in 1628. Henry was an astute businessman (at one time he owned Knole House in Sevenoaks!) but left no children. Under the terms of his will he left most of his money in trust for good causes. Today the Henry Smith Foundation gives away approximately £25 million in grants. However, Henry also left money to benefit his poor kindred, descendants of his sister Joan.
