In the name of god amen the xx of February Anno domi 1613 I John Jenner of Cuckfield in the countie of Sussex yeo being sick in body but thanks be to almightye god perfect in mind and memorie do make this my last wyll and testament in manner and forme following. First I bequeath my soule to almightie god trusting by the death and suffering of my lord saviour Jesus Christ to have forgiveness for all my sins and to inherit everlasting life in the kingdom of heaven, and my bodye to be buryed in the churchyard of Cuckfield. Item I give & bequeath to John Jenner my son one shase bed and bedsted and the table in the hall with the bench and the frame as it standeth and a long ladow. Item I give and bequeath to Thomas Jenner my sonne five shillings of currant money of England to be payed to him within one year and a day next after my decease. Item I give and bequeath to Stephen Jenner my son ten shillings if currant money as aforesayed to be payed to him within one year and a day next after my decease. Item I give to the daughter of Thomas West which he had with my daughter xiid of currant money as aforesayed. Item I give to Joane Jenner my daughter twentie shillings of currant money as aforesayed to be payed to her within six months next after my decease.Item I will that my daughter Joan shall have the chamber at the north east corner of the house the entire east garden that is with fire and slet with egress & egress to and from wholly during her natural life to dwell. But if she hapen to marry then she is to take xs a year to be payed to her yearly at the payments that is to say at the annunciation of the blessed virgin Mary five shillings and at the feast of St Michael the archangel five shillings (and to lease the chamber p’sible-added above the line-). Item I will that my daughter Joan Jenner shall have two shep kept in my land and pasture from year to year and not paying anything therefore during her natural life. Item I will and bequeath to Elsabeth my daughter the wife William Weller ten shillings of currant money as aforesayed to be payd to her or to her assigns within one year next after my decease. This is the last will & testament of me the said John Jenner of Henmead. Concerning my lands I give & bequeath to Elizabeth Jenner my wife my house and all my lands except the gifte given to my daughter Joane Jenner as aforesayed during the natural life of her my wife. Also I doe freely give and effectively grant to her full power and authoritie to let & rent all or any of my sayd lands if needs to ------- as well as the tyme after her my wife decease for years during the tyme of her ------ as may be for the full performance and payment of all my debts and no longer. I John Ginner of Cuckfeilde in the diocese of Chichester being of whole mind & of good and p’fect remembrance laude and praise unto almighty god therefore I make & ordeyn this my p’sent testament containing herein my last will in manner and forme following that is to say first of all I commend my soulle into the hands of almightye god my maker trusting to Christ my savior and redeemer and my body to be buried in the parish church or churchyard where I do decease. ITEM. I give and bequeath unto the poor people of that parish ten shillings to be distributed at my funeral by the discretion of my executor and overseers hereafter named. IT. I give and bequeath unto Joane my wife a chest which hath in it two tillas and her wearing apparel. IT. I give and bequeath unto Edward my son my querne, my table in the kichen. I give and bequeath to Nicholas the son and Mary the daughter of Edward my son ---?---. I give and bequeath unto Nicholas, Richard and John my sons all my wearing apparel who shall beare and paye the charges of proving this my testament.
