Elizabeth Hord

d. 1768
The surname HORD is most likely wrong and the result of a difficult transcription. There are no HORDs in the baptism register for Willingdon, but there are HART, HEAD, HOPE, HOOL. Also, there is a gap in the Willingdon registers between 1689 and 1694 which is unfortunate as it is likely the period when Elizabeth was baptised.1

James Kekewick Hore and Emma Fortescue emigrated circa 1883 to Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The shipping record for the main family was not found. Grandfather George Fortescue HOARE always said he was about 12 years old when the family came out. He had just left school and was given a little class on board the ship. As he was born in London, 1870, this would make date of entry into Sydney 1882 or 1883. Rosina and Maria did not emmigrate with James and Emma. Maria had married Thomas SMITH (a wheelwright/coach builder) before 1882 and stayed in England. Rosina later emigrated and married in Sydney, NSW, Australia.
The shipping records at the Mitchell Library, Sydney have an entry: HOARE, Arthur, tinsmith, 23 yrs, from Plymouth on board the "Belgic" , 1885. This would be their son, Arthur Fortescue HOARE.
