William Marchant died in 1772 at Brighton, Sussex, England.
William Marchant was buried on 6 November 1772 at St Nicholas Church, Brighton, Sussex, England, age 77 years.6
It is possible that William and Elizabeth had a son William whose baptism has not been found. The reason for suspecting this is that there is a William amd Mary Marchant in Brighton who started having children in 1755, followed by Stephen and Elizabeth in 1760, and Jonas and Mary in 1764. These were the only Marchant families in the baptisms register at that time. Also, it is almost inconceivable that there would not have been a son called William, given that would have been his father's name. Also, there is a burial of a William Jnr on 27 Dec 1763 (drowned) in Brighton which would explain why he is not mentioned in the will of 1772 (and there is also the burial of an Elizabeth Marchant, dau. of Mary, widow, on 8 Aug 1769). Note also, that daughters Anne, Martha (dec. c1760?), Mary and son Stephen (dec. c1770?) are not mentioned in the 1772 will, although their burials have not been found in the SFHG index of burials.
If that is the case, then William's wife Mary left a will that is of interest:
Mary Marchant 1784
Lewes Will A66 p53 dated 2.3.1784, proved 1.6.1790
