Abigail Brapple

It is reported that Brapple is still the name of an underground stream that runs from Pyecombe to Patcham, going past Brakepool park in the process. Brakepool is also thought to be a derivative of the Brapple name.
There is a Braypool lane near Patcham.
Unfortunately, by the 19th century, the Brapples seemed to be producing more daughters than sons and that local name has now been lost.
Abigail Brapple married Nathaniel Gunn, son of Stephen Gunn and Elizabeth Bradford, on 18 October 1724 at St Nicholas Church, Brighton, Sussex, England, both of Brighton. Surname spelt BRAPPELL.1

The following will makes a bequest to Ann Breach's three illegitimate children Anne (b. 1759), John (b. 1760) and Elizabeth (b. 1768) who all now have the surname BEAN. The testator, Elizabeth Bean (nee Wood) was wife to Henry Bean. They married 19 Mar 1750/51 at Bishopstone (Henry of Seaford). It is possible that one of her sons is the father of the illegitimate children or that they were adopted. It may be that Ann Breach was in a relationship with on of the BEAN family but for some reason they could not marry (for example, for social reasons if Anne was a servant).
