They were married at Rochester and came to Michigan about 1860, going first to Saginaw, where the father engaged in the salt business. In 1865 he removed to Detroit, where he established an insurance agency, carrying on in the business until his death, at the age of fifty-six years. His wife survived him until 1914 and had reached the age of seventy-six years when she passed away. They had a family of five children, of whom William W. is the youngest and the only son....On the 4th of February, 1913, Mr. Talman married Miss Ada Barber, a native of Englewood, New Jersey, and a daughter of James and Catherine (Gandy) Barber. Her father, now deceased, was engaged in the shipping business with his brother under the name of the Barber Steamship Lines. Mrs. Talman...by her marriage has become the mother of three sons. William Whitney Jr., born in Detroit, February 4, 1915, attended Dartmouth College and is now interested in a theater in New York City....It is interesting...to know that the grandmother of Mr. Talman in the paternal line was a descendant of Colonel Fitzhugh, who was a Revolutionary soldier and member of Washington’s staff...”]

Abraham Taylor married Ann (?) circa 1750 at Sussex, England.
A number of trees on Ancestry give Ann's surname as BRINKHERST (more commonly spelt BRINKHURST). As yet I have found no evidence for this. The trees give Anne BRINKHERST's baptism as 10 Nov 1728 at Glynde, dau. of John and Anne BRINKHERST, but there is a burial there on 23 Nov 1728 of Anne BRINKHURST "of Malling", although this more likely to be the mother given the reference to Malling. Note that the Sussex Marriage Index has the marriage of John BRINKHURST and Ann TUPENY on 11 Aug 1728 at South Malling (Lewes).1,2
A possible burial is 7 May 1790 at Glynde "Abraham Taylor, poor", or there are two Abraham Taylor burials in 1767 at Glynde.2

Abraham Taylor

d. 1767
Abraham Taylor's line may go through one of these two (likely) brothers:
Thomas Taylor who married Elizabeth Ace on 1 Feb 1675/76 at West Firle by lic. The marriage licence (31 Jan 1675/76) states that Elizabeth is "of Beddingham" which is where we know that Abraham lived after he married in 1716. The sponsors for the marriage licence were John and Thomas Taylor.
The brother John Taylor married Maria Bodge on 6 Mar 1666/67 at Beddingham.
There is also an Archdeaconry of Lewes marriage licence for a John Taylor of West Firle, and Anne Townsett of Salehurst on 27 Oct 1687 which is a possibility. It doesn't say if John Taylor is a bachelor or widower.
There are also strong indications (through names of children and locations) that Elias Taylor who married Susannah Gates on 29 Mar 1741 at Glynde is part of the family. They lived and were buried at Glynde (Elias buried there 10 Nov 1769 and his son Elias appears to have contined in Glynde also). He is possibly a brother to Abraham.1
Abraham Taylor married Mary Stephens, daughter of Joseph Stevens and Mary (?), on 3 May 1716 at East Blatchington, Sussex, England, Mary is "of Seaford" and Abraham is "of Glind."1
The marriage of Abraham and Mary was found in the East Blatchington parish register: "Abraham Taylor of Glynde and Mary Stephens of Seaford were married May 1(?) 1716". The Sussex Marriage Index has the marriage date as 3 May 1716.
An Elias Taylor and wife Susanna Gates were the only other Taylor family in Glynde at this time (although there is a single entry for a baptism for a Susannah, daughter of John Taylor on 5.4.1723). There were no Taylors earlier than 1723 appearing in the register (checked back to 1661).
The parents of Mary Stephens are possibly Joseph Stevens (buried 6.2.1722 at Seaford) and Mary (buried 12.1.1722 at Seaford) although her baptism has not been found (see details on Joseph & Mary Stephens).
Abraham Taylor died in 1767 at Glynde, Sussex, England.
Abraham Taylor was buried in 1767 at Glynde, Sussex, England, Two possibilities - either 30 May 1767 or 4 Sep 1767, both at Glynde.2
