According to the 1841 and 1851 census returns a William EVANS, son of George EVANS and Ann EVANS (née CLEWER) was aged 5 in 1841 and 15 in 1851. Until a baptism can be located the EVANS pedigree has been amended to reflect the information taken from the census returns.3 He was the son of George Evans and Anne Cluer.
A possible baptism for William is: William Richard Evans baptised 17 Jul 1836 at Titchfield son of George and Charlotte Evans, labourer. However, we would need to assume that the mother's name is incorrect and should be Ann.4
William Evans was an agricultural labourer on 30 March 1851.1
