I Alexander Elliott of Mayfield in the County at Sussex yeoman being fit of body and of good and perfect memory and understanding Praised be God for the same do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and format as followeth
    First I bequeath my soul unto God my maker hoping through the merits of Jesus Christ my only Lord and Saviour to be made Partaker of everlasting life,
    Item I bequeath my body to be decently buryed at the discretion of my executor and Overseers hereafter named,
    Item I give unto the poor of the parish of Mayfield five pounds to be distributed within twelve months after my decease.

    Item I give and bequeath to my son Alexander Elliott and his heirs one messuage and tenement called Bibleham with the mansion house, barn stable, malthouse with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging.
    Item I give and bequeath unto my son Alexander Elliott and his heirs one copyhold tenement called by the name of Westland lying in the parish of Burwash containing by estimation six acres more or less.
    I doe entreate my uncle, Mr Thankfull Hepdon, and my brother John Elliott and my cosen Benjamin Newington and John Wood my son-in-law to be Overseers.to this my last will and testament. And all the residue of my goods and chattels whatsoever I give unto my son Alexander Elliott Paying all my debts and legacies and funeral charges and I make him my sole executor of this my last will and testament and I the said Alexander Elliott to this my will have put my hand and seal. The mark of Alexander Elliott in the presence of T. Hepden, John Elliott Ben Newington, Clement Read.
    Proved at London 12th January 1675/6 by Alexander the son and executor.
