given to Almighty God for the same do make publish and declare this to be my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say First I will and direct that all my just debts funeral expences and the charges of proving this my will be fully paid and discharged by my executors hereinafter named and I do hereby charge my real and personal estate with the payment thereof accordingly and subject thereto I give and devise unto my daughter Maria the wife of John Ashdown of Hollington in the said county of Sussex [blank] All that my freehold messuage or tenement garden hereditaments and premises situate lying and being in the parish of Saint Mary of the Castle within the Liberty of the town and port of Hastings in the said county of Sussex and now in the tenure or occupations of Stephen Standen and [blank] Apps To hold the said messuage or tenement garden hereditaments and premises unto my said daughter Maria Ashdown her heirs and assigns forever Also I give and bequeath unto my son William Standen of Guestling in the said county of Sussex Shopkeeper the sum of forty pounds Also I give and bequeath unto my son John Standen of the parish of St Mary of the Castle the sum of forty pounds Also I give and bequeath unto my son James Standen of the parish of St Leonards the sum of one hundred and fifty pounds Also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Hannah the wife of Thomas Smith of Ore in the said county yeoman the sum of fifty pounds Also I give and bequeath unto my said daughter Maria the wife of the said John Ashdown the sum of fifty pounds all of which said legacies I do hereby order and direct shall be paid by my executors hereinafter named within twelve months next after my decease And also I do hereby give and bequeath unto my son Thomas Standen of St Mary of the Castle aforesaid yeoman and my friend Charles Deudney of Guensing in the parish of Saint Mary Magdalen within the Liberty of the town and port of Hastings aforesaid gentleman their executors and administrators the sum of one hundred and twenty pounds Upon trust nevertheless that they my said trustees and the survivor of them and the executors and administrators of such survivor do and shall place out at interest on Government or some other good & sufficient real security the said sum of one hundred and twenty pounds and to pay and apply the interest proceeds and profit therefrom arising and every part thereof unto and to the use of my daughter Susanna the wife of Richard Cossum of Hollington aforesaid yeoman for and during the term of her natural life and whose receipt alone shall be a good and sufficient discharge to my said executors for such payments notwithstanding her coverture and I do hereby direct that the same shall not be subject to the debts control engagements or intermeddling of her present husband but shall be a distinct and separate maintenance for her as if she were a feme sole and from and after the decease of my said daughter Susanna Upon trust that my said trustees and the survivor of them and the executors and administrators of such survivor do and shall lay out and expend the interest or dividends of the said monies so to be paid out as aforesaid for and towards the maintenance and education of all and every the children of my said daughter Susanna untill they shall severally and respectively attain the age of twenty one years and as soon as any or either of my said Grandchildren shall have attained his her or their said ages of twenty one years Then up on trust that they my said trustees and the survivor of them and the executors and administrators of such survivor do and shall pay or cause to be paid unto my said Grandchildren his her or their part or share of and in the said sum of one hundred and twenty pounds when and as soon as they shall severally and respectively attain the age of twenty one years But in case of the death of the said Richard Cossum in the life time of my said daughter then I do direct my said trustees and the survivor of them and the executors and administrators of such survivor do and shall pay unto my said daughter Susanna the said sum of one hundred and twenty pounds for her own use and benefit anything hereinbefore contained to the contrary thereof notwithstanding Also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Sallina the wife of Thomas Button of the parish of St Mary of the Castle aforesaid [blank] the sum of one hundred and forty pounds Also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Ann the wife of Robert Overy of Hurstgreen in the said county [blank] the sum of fifty pounds which said two legacies I do direct shall be paid by my said executors within twelve months next after my decease And also all the rest residue and remainder of my estate whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature or kind soever the same may be I give and bequeath unto my said son Thomas Standen his executors and administrators absolutely and for ever And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said son Thomas Standen and Charles Deudney trustees and executors of this my will And I do hereby declare that my said executors shall not be answerable or accountable for any more money than they shall respectively receive nor shall the one of them be answerable or accountable for the acts deed neglects or defaults of the other of them but each for his own acts and deeds only and that it shall and may be lawful to and for my said trustees and executors to reimburse and retain to himself and themselves all such monies costs and charges which they or either of them shall necessarily sustain expend or be put unto in or about the execution of this my will and the trusts hereby in them reposed And I do hereby give and bequeath unto the said Charles Deudney the sum of five pounds as a mark of my esteem and for the trouble he may have in carrying this my will into execution And Lastly I do hereby revoke and make null and void all former and other wills by me at any time heretofore made
