In the Name of God Amen, the twentieth day of Aprill in the fifth year of the reigne of our Sovereigne Lord and Lady William and Mary by the grace of God king and queene of England Scotland France and Ireland Defender of the Faith Anno Domini 1693 I Thomas Crundwell of Brenchley in the county of Kent tanner being at this present of reasonable good health of body and of sound and perfect mind and memory praised bee God yet aged and by the course of nature expecting my departure out of this present life doe therefore make and declare this to be my testament and last will in manner and former following First and principally I will and resigne my soul into the hands and gracious acceptance of Almighty God my maker hopeing and assuredly trusting to have the pardon and remission of all my sinns and eternall salvation by the onely meritts death and passion of his dearly beloved sonn Jesus Christ my alone saviour and redeemer and my body I committ to the earth in such decent manner to bee buryed as mine Executor hereafter named shall think fitt And as concerning that Temporall estate which God hath lent mee in this present life I order will give and dispose of the same in manner and forme following that is to say I will devise and appoint that whereas I have had and received the summe of fifteene pounds of lawfull money of England being a Legacy willed and given to Elizabeth my wife by James Javis her uncle, I doe hereby will give and appoint that mine Executor hareafter named shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid to the said Elizabeth my wife or her assignes at the end of one whole yeare next after my decease all the said summe of fifteene pounds of lawful money of England if the said Elizabeth my wife shalbee then living But if the said Elizabeth my wife shall depart this life before the end or expiration of one yeare next after my decease then I will and appoint that mine Executor shall well and truly pay all the said summe of fifteene pounds of lawful money of England unto Richard Russell my sonn in law att the end of two years next after my decease Item I will and give unto Elizabeth my daughter now wife of Thomas Crouch of Brenchley aforesaid the summe of five pounds of lawfull money of England (which was money left by John Crundwell my sonn) and one shilling as my guift to be paid to her the said Elizabeth at the end of two yeares next after my decease Item I will and give unto Anne my daughter now wife of Matthew Diamond one shilling as my guift and one shilling being the guift of John Crundwell my sonn to bee paid to her by mine Executor within one yeare next after my decease Item I will and give to Thomas Wessonn my ……………………… summe ………….[Fold and tear in document. Pounds of lawful money of England to bee paid to him by mine Executor within one yeare next after my decease And I doe also will give and appoint that Beniamin Wessonn my sonn in law shall have and take the use or interest of the said summe of thirty pounds untill the said Thomas Wessonn my grandchild shall attain to the full age of three and twenty years Item I will give and appoint that mine Executor hereinafter named shall well and truly pay into the hand of Beniamin Wessonn my sonn in law the summe of twenty pounds of lawful money of England at the end of one yeare next after my decease to bee by him the said Beniamin Wessonn well and truly paid unto his fower youngest children which he had by Dorothy my daughter equally between them according as they shall attaine to their severall and respective ages of one and twenty yeares and in case any of the said children shall happen to dye before they shall attaine to that age, that then the part or portion of him or her soe dyeing and deceased shalbee equally parted and divided among the survivors of the said children Item I will devise give and appoint that if it shall happen that Thomas Crundwell my sonn and Thomas Crundwell my grandchild the sonn of my said sonn Thomas shall dye without any heire male of his or their bodyes lawfully begotten, then my will and minde is, that all and every my linnen woollen bedding brass pewter and all other my household stuff whatsoever, shalbee equally parted and divided between the children of my daughter Elizabeth now wife of Thomas Crouch, and the children of Beniamin Wessonn which he had by Dorothy my daughter, And that hee the said Thomas Crundwell my sonn shall and may have the use of all and every my said household stuff hee not in any way spoyling wasting or diminishing the same (except onely one chest of linnen) Item the Rest and Residue of all my estate goods corne cattell debts ready money stock of leather, tann, tann vates, cisternes and all other vessells and implements belonging to tanning (that are mine) and all other my goods household stuff and chattells whatsoever (on condition above reserved mentioned and expressed) I give and leave to the said Thomas Crundwell my only sonn whom I make and ordaine the full and sole Executor of this my Testament and last will in consideration hee doe well and truly pay and discharge all and every debts and legacies before herein willed and given, and see this my will proved executed and performed and my body decently brought to the earth and buryed In witness whereof I the said Thomas Crundwell the elder have to this my Testament and last will sett my hand and seale (revoking all wills by mee formerly made) the day and yeare first above written
Memorandum I did before the ensealing hereof will and appoint that if the said Thomas Crundwell my sonn and Thomas Crundwell my Grandchild shall happen to dye without any heire male, then I doe make the said Thomas Wesson my Grandchild the full and sole Executor of this my will to execute the same in manner and forme above said.
