• Anecdote: A candidate is Thomas JEFFERIES bap. 10 Mar 1730/31 at Withyham, son of Thomas JEFFERIES, gardener,and Elizabeth Coe of Rotherfield. However, there is a burial of a Thomas JEFFERY on 4 Jan 1732/33 which may be him (it wasn't the father as a sister Mary was baptised 1732/33).
  Their children's names suggest an association with William Jeffery of Framfield who was having children in the 1720s and 1730s, including one named Robert, but a Thomas has not been found. This family would be logical given the proximity of Framfield to Fletching and Little Horsted. Note: William JEFFERY and Ann SOLOMON married on 13 Oct 1723 at Tonbridge, Kent, both "of Framfield". Needs further investigation.
