• Anecdote*: Many trees have this Samuel Verrall as the child of Samuell Verrall (1773-1874) and Elizabeth Mewitt (c1770-1838). However, unless he was born before his parents married in 1790 then it is hard to believe that he fits into that family. Samuel Verrall and Elizabeth Mewitt married on 11 Oct 1791 and had their first child Mary 8 months later on 3 Jun 1792. If Samuel had been born after this (a possiblity given there is a gap in their children's baptisms between 1793-1797) then he would have been only 15 or 16 when he married Jane Bradford on 13 Mar 1808 (and he would have been 14 years when he conceived their illegitimate child before marriage!). A possibility is Samuel FIRREL born 9 Sep 1789 (bap. 25 Oct 1789) at Westham, son of John and Sarah FIRREL (FIRREL/FEARALL/FERRALL were variants of VERRALL at Westham). The year of birth (1789) would match almost exactly the age on his burial (however the children's names don't seem to match that well to the previous generation, so some doubt remains).
