Will and Testament in writing in manner and form following (viz) First and principal I resigne my Soul into the hands of God that gave it and my Body I comitt to the Earth to be decently Interred at the discretion of my Executrix herein after named And as to the Temporal Estate wherewith it hath pleased Almighty God to bless me I dispose of the Same as followeth Imprimis I give and devise All and Singular my Freehold Mannors Messuages Buildings Farmes Lands Tenements and Hereditaments whatsoever with their and every of their rights libertys profits priviledges and appurtenances Scituate lying and being in the County of Sussex Save only and Except that my loving Wife Sarah Shall have her dwelling gratis in my now Mansion House in Seaford during the time that She continues my Widow and The fourth day of October, in the yeare of our Lord God one thousandsix hundred sixty one, I Richard Chambers of Denton in ye County of Sussex Yeoman, being sicke & weake in body, but yet of good & perfect memory, blessed be God for it, doe make thismy last Will & Testamt in manner & forme following, First I bequeath my Soule in to ye hands of athe Amighty God my maker, trusting to have my sins pardoned & my soule eternally saved only through ye satisfaction & merits of Lord Jesus Christ my alone Savior & Redeemer; & my BodyI commende to ye Earth, to be decently buried in ye Parish Churchyard of Denton. And as for my Wordly goods which God hath gratiously bestowed upon me, my will is that they be disposed of as followeth: Imprimis I give unto my loving Wife Joane Chambers, one hundred pounds of good & lawfull monyof England, which shall be due to her immediately upon my decease, & she shall have power presently after my Death if she pleaseth to give & dispose of it when, how, & to whom shee will, only I desire that my Executor may have six months time alowed him for ye paymt of it either to her or to whom else she shall appoint to receive it. Item I give unto my sonne Edmund Bennet of Tarring five shillings, & to my daughter Anne his wif I give five shillings, & to his sonne John Bennet I give an Ewe, & to Dinah Bennet my sonne Bennets daughter I give likewise an Ewe, & my will is that ye mony should be paid & the Ewes delivered with in halfe a yeare after my decease to my sonne Edmund Bennet, & an Acquittance given to my executor under my sonne Bennets hand shall be a sufficient discharge for my Executor. Item I give to my Couzen John Chambers of Tarring five shillings, & to his two children Richard & James I give likewise five shillings a piece, to be paid unto John Chambers their father for them with in six months after my decease. Item I give to Richard Reade tenne shillings in mony, as also I give unto him for his life time the house at Heighton which was some times Ashbyes, paying for rent tenne shillings a yeare to my Executor as long as the aforesaid Richard Hide shall live, & after ye said Reades decease if he shall leave any heires of his body lawfully begotten, my will is that the house shall fall to his heires for ever, but if he have noe heires of his one body begotten, then my will is that it shall returne againe unto my Executor & to his heires. Item I give to Ann Pick my maide five shillings, & to Joane Hollybone my maide five shillings, & to William Kent a servant boy of mine one shilling, & to Ambrose Peckham an other of my boys sixpence. Item I give unto widdow Peckham, widdow Read, William Winder, & Richard Cheale all of ye parish of Heighton twelve pence a piece. own use and uses respectively until she or they shall be fully satisfied contented and paid their or her Legacy or Legacies aforesaid respectively together with the reasonable Costs Charges and Expences they any or either of them shall bear pay Sustain or be put unto in and about the Recieving or Recovery thereof as aforesaid Item Whereas I lately agreed with Mr William Boys for the absolute purchase in Fee of a certain Field or piece of Land in Seaford aforesaid And also of certain Mesuages Barns Buildings Lands Tenements and hereditaments in Bletchington in the said County of Sussex late in the Occupation of Edward Boys or his assigns at the price of Sixteen Hundred and Sixty pounds part of which is Freehold and the remainder Copyhold And whereas at my Request and by my Directions the same premisses were in or about the Twenty Eighth Day of July One Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty Two conveyed surrendered and assured by the said William Boys To my Sister Elizabeth Chambers her Heirs and assigns And Whereas I paid in part of the said purchase money the sum of Sixty pounds only And my said Sister did on or about the said Twenty Eighth Day of July at my Request and by my Direction Devise Surrender and morgage the Same premisses To the said William Boys for securing the payment of Sixteen Hundred pounds being the remainder of the said purchase money with   James Chambers of Seaford in the County of Sussex Esquire Do make publish and declare this to be a Codicil to and taken as part of my last Will and Testament which I made in writing bearing Date on or about the Sixteenth Day of April last past Whereas I did by my said Will Give and Devise all and singular my Mesuages or Tenements Barns Buildings Farms Lands Tenements and hereditaments in South Heighton and Denton in the said County of Sussex and in either of them To my wife Barbara Chambers for her Life and after her Decease to my Sister Elizabeth Chambers Spinster and her Heirs forever Upon the Trusts and to and for the uses Intents and purposes therein mentioned And I did by my said Will Give and bequeath unto my said Wife and my said Sister Elizabeth All my Goods Chattells and personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever In Trust and to and for the Uses Intents and purposes therein mentioned And did thereby appoint my said Wife and my said Sister Elizabeth Chambers Executrices in Trust of my said Will Now it is my Will and Intent and I do hereby revoke the Trusts powers and authorities and Executorship by me given devised bequeathed and appointed to my said Sister Elizabeth and her Heirs in and by the said will and instead hereof I do hereby will direct and appoint that Jno. Scrace of Patcham Gent & William Roggers of the same shall stand in the place and stead of the said Elizabeth Chambers my Sister and that the said Jno.
