• Anecdote: The Removal Order was issued 11 April 1738 to John Breach and his three children, John, Thomas and Sarah stating that Lewes St Michael was the parish where they were last legally settled.⁵

• Anecdote: John Breach's three children were baptised at Burwash. A letter from the Overseers of the Poor confirms this. We can probably infer from this that John had gained settlment at Lewes probably through employment.^8,9
• Anecdote: The three children were later apprenticed out by the overseers at Lewes St Michael as follows.

The children were later apprenticed out by the overseers at Lewes St Michael.
