Edward Rofe was baptized on 27 February 1714/15 at St John sub Castro, Lewes, Sussex, England, surname spelt ROOFE.1 He was the son of Edward Rofe and Mary (?)
There is a burial of an Edward ROFFE 21 Mar 1714 at Lewes St John sub Castro, "twin son Edward Jnr". There is no baptism of the other twin. This throws doubt on the above baptism for our Edward.2
There is also a baptism of a Ruth ROFE 10 May 1747 at Battle dau. William and Susanna ROFE which may be of interest. Susannah ROFE wife of William was buried at Battle on 12 Feb 1749. William could be Edward's brother, and hence he named his daughter Susanna after his brother's wife.1
Edward Rofe married Lucy Catt, daughter of William Catt and Elizabeth Wakelin, on 4 October 1744 at Uckfield, Sussex, England, Edward is "of Lewes All Saints", Lucy is "of this parish".3
