Appeared personally Mary Rollason the wife of Thomas Rollason of Willington in the County of Sussex shepherd and made oath that she hath looked at the paper writing hereunto annexed purporting to be the last Will and Testament of William Knight late of Eastbourne in the County of Sussex schoolmaster deceased, that she on or about the thirty first day of October last was present with the testator and saw him obliterate the words “unto Mary Wilkins and Jane Wilkins her sister as joint heirs” by drawing his pen and ink over those words, which now appear to be obliterated in the said Will. And this appearer further saith that she was present and saw the said testator William Knight write the Codicil on the back of the said Will and saw him sign the same and that the name “W Knight” subscribed thereto is his proper hand writing and signature.
