• Anecdote*: The marriage of John Waite and Jane Hadlow in East Malling, Kent in 10 May 1710 seems the logical fit here. Their children's names are consistent with the family and the other contender, John Waite bap. 1687 at Tonbridge son of William, has been shown to have married Elizabeth Low based on his age given for their marriage allegation.

• Anecdote: John Waite's probate was investigated by Gillian Rickard who found that administration of his estate was granted to his wife Jane, with a probate inventory dated 14 February 1732 and presented to the court on 22 March 1733. It survives amongst the records of the Archdeaconry Court of Rochester (Kent History Centre: Dra/Pi 16/8). The value of his estate came to £505 6s 6d, a large sum for the time (being the eldest surviving son of an eldest surviving son probably helped!). A detailed inventory of his estate apparently survives, but has not been sighted although it is mentioned in Chalklin's 1962 paper "The Rural Economy of a Kentish Wealden Parish 1650-1750".⁵
• Anecdote: A Lease and Release document dated 9th & 10th October 1758 relating to Jane Waite and her sons exists in the Lancashire Archives (DDK/1122/26 & 27). There are various other documents relating to John and Jane Waite (DDK/1122/26-32) including one mentioning John Waite and dated 10 May 1732 (DDK/1122/32). These have yet to be investigated. Of interest is whether she had a son William as he would be a candidate for the will of William Waite made 1795.⁶

  Jane married John Henry Dickson on 15th June 1846 at St Johns Paddington,and her father is listed as Samuel King,stonemason.
  ... We have a letter written at the time of Lucy Kings death in 1871,sent to John Swift, talking of Lucys passing, and mentions aunts Eliza and Harriet. Eliza I know wed a Southerwood and had two children that died. We have a photo of her and a number of Jane. I have not been able to trace Harriet other than her appearance on the 1851 census, frustratingly they dont appear on the 1841, or1861. The letter says Lucy was buried in Brompton cemetary, but i'm not sure if Samuel was buried there.
